We have been going to a Pakistani restaurant for the last couple of years with our mission pastor and other church members. We would pray for the food, for the place and for the owner, a Muslim. I am sure he began asking himself why these people were so different. A couple of years later he asked me that very question when he learned that I am a Christian from Pakistan. He said to me, "You speak the same language I speak, you are from the same country I am from, then why are you so different from us?" I started telling him about the love of God and His "Word" Jesus Christ, who became flesh for a sinner like me and paid the penalty for my sins. In fact, we did not have a deep and lengthy theological discussion. Yet, the same enthusiasm and excitement I put into my radio programs was there though we met casually in the restaurant. He started listening to Urdu messages on the web. The seed was sown. He even told his family in Pakistan about the web page. Six months ago ten members of his family accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. But it’s not easy. They are paying a huge, huge price to follow Jesus. They have been declared heretics and infidels and told they deserve to be killed.
My heart was burdened because I know how it goes when you are called a Christian in Pakistan. I know what kind of persecution these people are facing and will be facing in the future. I spoke with Mike Bond, and as their brother in Christ, his love for these Christians prompted him to do something. He is currently in contact with a missionary in another country to get this family out of Pakistan and then bring them here to the states, so these precious brothers and sisters don’t have to pay the price with their lives. I strongly believe these new Christians could be more effective witnesses while they are here. And obviously, by the grace of God, we’ll be able to pour more love into their lives and so much more will be poured out of them for many, many others.
We need your prayers and your support as this is no small thing. We are expecting great things through Him and you are His tool. What price are you willing to pay for Him?
Christians, when you stay in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, His love and kindness shines in your life and through your life. That bright light of truth shows others "the way". People will begin asking if this the only "way" and the duty of a Christian is to shout, "Yes! This is the only way!"
