2007 has been a year of blessings, changes and another very special addition to our family.
As you read in one of our recent newsletters we have been blessed to have Cheryl Metcalf come on board as office administrator and bookkeeper. Joyce was the bookkeeper for many years but not having any training in bookkeeping for a growing nonprofit organization it was becoming too much for her. After much prayer Joyce stepped down from that job and Cheryl took over. We can't begin to tell you what a blessing Cheryl is to this ministry. She is truly a lady with a big heart, a vision and has an undeniable passion to see Muslims come to Christ. Joyce continues to work with GRO in whatever capacity she is needed.
Another big change for Joyce was quitting her job as manager at Curves. Again after much prayer and long discussions with Mike she stepped down from that position the end of June. Early July was a month of visits from friends and family. On July 20th Joyce began work as a retail sales associate. This was a big step as it was all very new to her and has proven to be very enjoyable. Also one day a week Joyce takes care of Amy's three children so she can go to the GRO office.
Our four children and families are doing well. We now have nine grandchildren. Six boys [Jesse-16, Michael-9, Jarod-7, Trey-6, Jayben-3, Matthew-2] and three girls [Shawna-11, Michayla-5, Isabella-6 months]. The newest addition was a beautiful little daughter to Richard and Heidi [their first]. Isabella Catherine was born May 2, weighing 7 lbs 13 oz., 18 inches long. She is about seven months old with 2 teeth, bright eyes and a contagious smile. She is starting to sit up and is developing a personality all her own. We enjoy the times we get to spend with our newest granddaughter. All of our grandchildren are growing up. They are each involved in different activities at school, church, and in sports. It is really a joy for us as grandparents to have a part in their lives. God has really blessed us with very special grandchildren.
Mike continues to travel in the spring and fall to speak in churches and with individuals all over the country. His longest trip this year was three weeks. During that time he visited churches in nine states. He is a busy man and would appreciate your prayers.
As we think about another new year beginning we are expecting great things. We serve a faithful God who desires that all should have a chance to hear about Him and His love. That is our goal ~ to continue to step out and tell others and to serve Him with our whole hearts. Our prayer for you during this Holiday season is that you would take some time and listen with open ears and hearts to what God desires of you in 2008. You'll be amazed at the things you can do when you are willing.
God bless each of you and thank you for your prayers and financial support.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year.
