This is an amazing story of how God was able to use our ministry and prayer team to rescue a persecuted Christian brother and sister from Pakistan. We are so thankful to have been a part of this story. Celebrate with this wonderful couple and with us as we get to see God working on behalf of his people. Muslims Crave Freedomby Timothy Abraham on November 28, 2017
Beloved friends in Christ,
It has been common for me to get mail from Muslims asking me to talk more about freedom. People in the Muslim world long for freedom, when we have become accustomed to it here in the free-world countries. I remember when it was around 10:30 one evening and I was listening to a Bible message on the radio that stood out for me; in fact, it moved my heart so deeply. It was about Jesus setting us free. The guy who was teaching it spoke with a combination of gentleness and authority that got me started on thinking more deeply about Christian freedom. He quoted what our Lord said, with that meek voice of his full of God’s authority: if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:34-36). Yes, Muslims do need freedom, and we are called to God’s vineyard to proclaim that freedom to them. Some of them dread that freedom and choose oppression over it as they can’t really believe that freedom is a gift of God and it is not man’s idea, nor is it a call to moral licentiousness, as great many of them fear. We are privileged to be in the right business: the business of soul-saving. And what is salvation, in essence, but God setting us free so that we reflect His image and radiate His glory to all creation? Free souls treat others in such a royal way whereas oppressed ones give oppression back. Any attempt to modernize Islam from the outside is purely superficial and Jesus sternly cautions against it in His glorious words, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” (Matthew 23:27-28). Well, I haven’t seen Muslims ready before as I do see them now. There is mass exodus out of the bondage of Islam, and it doesn’t stun us anymore to know that a Muslim is looking outside the box. In fact, great many of them are yearning for more, they are fed up with the stifling and bondage that characterize Islam. Some become agnostic and still want more, and some actually are thirsty for the living water of the gospel, and that is where we, as missionaries, have to remember to be ready, to be on call, as we are definitely “on duty” and we never know when we have to get up and be there for a seeking Muslim. Yes, Lord we are ready, and may it be your entire pleasure to use us as your vessels, we are channels through which your divine love flows to thousands upon thousands of Muslims and we pray to honor your calling to that mission field with every fiber of our being. We also thank you, beloved friends, for supporting us in order to see this happen, in order to do it and be people of action. May the Lord bless you abundantly and reward you greatly for your giving of yourselves in many ways for the cause of the Great Commission.
