Virgil Rasmussen has pastored churches in the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies since 1949. The final 24 years of pastoring were in the Cloquet Gospel Tabernacle, Cloquet, Minnesota. Since his retirement in 1988, he has served in interim pastorates in Minnesota, Michigan and Iowa.

He has two sons who are missionaries in Tanzania. On three different visits to Tanzania he has worked with them, teaching in their training schools for periods of 6 weeks to 7 months.

He and his wife, Ruth raised six children, who are all living Christian lives. Virgil has said of the work of Global Radio Outreach, "There is no more valid missions endeavor in our Fellowship."
