The vision for the work of Global Radio Outreach goes back to WW2 when a young Australian Christian
named Claude D'Evelynes served with the allies in New Guinea. There he received a three-pronged vision from the Lord:
Claude went back to New Guinea after the war to establish
Christian Radio Missionary Fellowship [CMRF] to fulfill his vision. He was immediately successful with the missionary communications network. Setting his base at Rugli — a small village in what is now the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. CMRF still administers that network which meets the daily needs of 600 mission stations.
The Broadcast work to Papua New Guinea began in the 1950's and spun off under the name of "Christian Radio". It continues to produce Christian programming under the name "Christian Media Productions".
The third part of that vision eluded Claude though. Finally in 1984 the Michael Bond family went to Papua New Guinea to assist CMRF with the work of the communications network. Claude passed away in 1985 but in 1986 the Lord passed the mantle for the international broadcast work to the Bonds. He also expanded the vision to include not just Indonesia but as much of the Middle East as He would empower them to reach.
During the Bond's second term in Papua New Guinea CMRF decided that they would not pursue the broadcast work. So Mike and Joyce left in 1991 to establish "Global Radio Outreach" to reach the nations of the Middle East and beyond.
